Insects are prolific and account
for more than two-thirds of all known organisms. They date back some 400
million years, Entomology is a busy subject that transcends a cross-section
of topics as diverse as molecular genetics, behavior, biomechanics,
biochemistry, systematics, physiology, developmental biology, ecology,
morphology, paleontology, mathematics, anthropology, robotics, agriculture,
nutrition, forensic science, and more.
A subject devoted to an in-depth study of insects could conservatively
be presented in 25 or 30 volumes. This book is not a comprehensive study of
entomology. It is a basic overview to assist the novice or new student of
Entomology.
